Helena presents Folklore at the Enterprise Europe Network meeting in Sofia
On 14 October 2026, Helena Bioinformatics presented Folklore at an Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) meeting at the Bulgarian Industrial Association in Sofia. Our founder, Vladimir Mitev, joined Bulgarian companies presenting their work to international EEN advisers working in digital technologies, IT and AI.
We asked EEN advisers for introductions to laboratories that need more capacity to interpret genomic data, and to organisations that could help us reach them.
Our presentation explained the problem behind Folklore. Sequencing reads DNA, but a geneticist still needs to assess which differences in that DNA may matter for a particular case. Gathering evidence from different sources takes time. For smaller laboratories, the cost of a large annual software licence can be another obstacle.
Folklore brings genetic variants, clinical features and supporting evidence into one workspace. It prioritises variants for review so the geneticist can examine the classifications and their sources. Laboratories can buy analysis packages matched to the capacity they need. Folklore is designated for research use only, and specialist judgement remains central to interpreting the findings.
For the EEN audience, we described the partners we hope to meet: laboratories with geneticists and interpretation backlogs, distributors serving those laboratories, and universities or research teams with a specific question to investigate together. A useful first step would be a demonstration followed by an evaluation with an agreed scope and clear questions.
After the presentations, we exchanged experience with other Bulgarian companies and discussed possible cooperation with EEN colleagues.
Thank you to Konstantin Uzunov, Miryana Nedeva and the EEN Bulgaria team for the invitation and their help with our participation.
If your laboratory or organisation would like to discuss Folklore, contact us to arrange a demonstration and talk through a possible evaluation.
